Everyday Makeup for the Mom on the go
New to motherhood? Well seasoned?
If you fall into either category I think we can all agree, finding time to do your Makeup is a challenging thing to accomplish. You step back and put all your time and energy into this little ( or big ) being you created. We do this without hesitation, of course. But there does come a time when, like me you want for just a moment to feel less haggard. More " slightly put together".
This is my reality. I am a mother of two beautiful children and rarely wear makeup, and I apply makeup for a living ! I love makeup- I love wearing it, applying it, talking about it. But I just can't find the time in my day-to-day life to always apply it.
More often than I can think, I leave the house without it on. I rush out the door to grab groceries or take the kids to a play group and I always wish I would have had the time to take even just ten minutes to pull myself together.
I have been trying to give myself just those ten minutes when I can. Because taking even just ten minutes to yourself is so crucial. And it feels nice to leave the house without looking like a disheveled human being!
I have compiled a list of a few of my go-to products for mastering the art of concealing under eye mom bags and bringing some life to my face- In as little time as possible.
First things first, Skincare people. Skip on the makeup but don't skip out on the skincare. You will Thank yourself in the long run!
Step 1. Evening out your skin tone.
I have been reaching for the Lancôme Skin Feels Good Skin Nourishing Foundation.
This is a sheer coverage foundation, so there is a ton of forgiveness. It is super easy to apply and incredibly natural looking. It is ideal for all skin types and gives the most beautiful natural/radiant finish. Apply with a brush, a beauty blender if you wish to sheer it out further, or your hands. Yes I still love applying some of my foundations with my hands - they are amazing tools!
The Lancôme Skin Feels good Retails for $45.00
** Often when I'm really pressed for time I will skip this step and move right on to step #2 !
Step 2. Concealer
Haven't slept in days, months, years? This step is crucial! While keeping the skin super natural you have a few choices. Continue keeping everything light and fresh, or if your under eye area is really dark go in with a fuller coverage concealer.
Sheer option- The L'Oreal Infaliable Pro-Glow concealer. This is a very sheer coverage. I don't find it is something I can build up, so this is for anyone looking to keep it Au-natural. Very radiant and super hydrating. A steal on sale for roughly $12.00. The applicator is a flat doe foot so it is great for on the go.
Medium Coverage- Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer- It reminds me of the Pro-glow on steroids. It is very creamy, super hydrating and gives a nice natural finish to the skin. However the coverage is greater and can definitely be built up.
Full coverage- Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer. I can't say enough good things about this concealer. I just love it. It claims to be a matte finish, which I don't disagree with. However for me it leans more on the Natural Matte side. This I prefer because I don't love anything super matte under my eye area. This does wonders for concealing heavy duty dark circles or any redness on the skin you may want to even out.
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye - I have in fact been living under a rock. I have just recently tried this concealer and, It is Amazing. It delivers the most beautiful coverage, while being radiant and oddly hydrating on the skin. I have been using this both, with and without a setting powder. Regardless it does not shift, which is amazing.
I will typically apply my concealer of choice under my eye area, around my nose and on my chin. I typically pull redness in both those areas so concealing there is a must for me. I apply this with my damp beauty blender.
Step 3. Brows.
This is one thing I wont skip. However with limited amount of time, I don't go in with my typical brow pencil and really give my brows the love they deserve. Instead I run in with a brow gel. This fills in any sparse areas and gives them some added color and dimension. It also takes about 2 seconds.
Glossier Boy Brow- $20.00 - I will quickly say that if you have a chance to try this its totally worth it ( IMO ) It adds a ton of volume to my brows along with color. Its amazing.
Benefit Gimme Brow - $32.00
Essence Make Me Brow - $3.99
Step 4. Blush
If I'm in a rush I will skip on the bronzer and go in with just a blush, to add a little bit of life to my complexion. I will more often than not go in with a cream or liquid blush. I love how fresh it looks and when I'm going for a natural look I like to keep the skin free of as many powered products as possible. I can quickly apply it again with a brush, sponge or dab it onto my cheeks with my fingers.
A few if my favorites are;
Nars Liquid Blush in Torrid or Orgasm. $38.00
Benefit Posietint Cheek & Lip Stain- $40.00
Step 5. Mascara
You know the drill. This one is pretty self explanatory. Lengthening those lashes will do wonders for convincing anyone you may see that you are not sleep deprived.
I go in with a few coats of the Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara. It is my favorite Mascara, ever.
Step 6. Lips
My Go to when I'm creating a really natural look is a lip oil. Super easy to apply. High Shine and just looks super fresh.
Clarins Instant Light Lip Confort Oil. $25.00
Nyx #Thisiseverything Lip Oil $6.00
I welcome all other suggestions - because if you have any withheld secrets, I wanna know them!
